Artificial Intelligence MSc
Artificial Intelligence · Masters
MSc Artificial Intelligence at the University of Edinburgh is taught at the UK's longest-established academic centre studying artificial intelligence, within the School of Informatics — ranked 1st in the UK for research power in Computer Science and Informatics (REF 2021). The one-year full-time programme (also part-time up to three years) lets students tailor around half their taught credits from AI areas such as natural language processing, machine learning and robotics — recent courses include Accelerated Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Reinforcement and Robot Learning and Case Studies in AI Ethics — before a summer dissertation.

About this programme
Courses are taught by internationally known researchers and draw on related fields including neuroscience, cognitive science, linguistics and mathematics, aiming to give the fundamental knowledge and practical skills needed to design, build and apply AI systems in a chosen specialisation. Entry is a UK 2:1 honours degree (or international equivalent) in informatics, AI, cognitive science, computer science, econometrics, electrical engineering, linguistics, mathematics, philosophy, physics or psychology; entry is competitive and a typical offer normally requires a UK first-class degree. Programming competence is essential (at least one of C/C++, Java, Python, R, Matlab, Haskell, ML), alongside 60 SCQF/30 ECTS credits of mathematics covering calculus, linear algebra, discrete mathematics and probability. English: IELTS Academic 7.0 with at least 6.5 in each component. A £1,500 deposit secures an offer.
